Problems compiling i810tv-module 2003-03-07 00:10:55
Hi all,

I'm having problems compiling the module on my debian-unstable (gcc 3.2.3), under a vanilla 2.4.20-kernel with lm_sensors 2.7.0 and i2c 2.7.0. I2c and lm_sensors are working fine, and I also applied the patch to i2c-i810.c, but when I try to compile the tv-module i get this :

IR and ITE8712F 2003-02-14 23:12:31
Hi

Thanks for the IR info. I have a bit of a problem getting the ELIRM-8601, but there might be a chance I can use the SFH506-38 instead.

Two questions though. How do you find out which pin is pin 85 and do you have any link to documentation for the ITE8712F

Kind regards

A F@milynet box to sell? 2003-02-10 00:13:40
Hi all.

I assume you come here to visit since you already have a f@milynet box. I also assume that you come here to visit becausse you are pleased with your box and would like to have the drivers to run linux on the box.

Anyhow I need to ask. Does anyone have a f@milynet box to sell? We are one box short at the moment since one of our development machines didn't really like the treatment it got and now it has been confirmed dead. Computercity in gothenburg took it back and promised they would get more boxes since they were out of stock "at the moment". Unfortunately they never came.

So we've given up hopes on Computercity and tries to find a used one instead. Please contact us if you have a spare f@milynet box to sell.

SMBus commands timing out? 2003-02-08 20:51:42
Hi guys,

Thanks for your efforts in making it possible to use this machine with a proper operating system.

I've gotten your i810tv-module compiled and installed, as well as i2c 2.70 and lm-sensors 2.70, all running on a vanilla 2.4.20-kernel on a F@milyNet machine, so this would seem to be compatible hardware.

I've also gotten the tvsetup-program compiled, but unfortunately something does not seem to work. An strace shows me that all calls to /dev/i810tv works perfectly, but it seems that the smbus calls, all returning EPERM, I guess this i due to timeout.

A i2cdetect of both I2C-busses does not detect any devices, and therefore I have no way of knowing if:
1. The program is accessing the right device
2. The program is accessing the right I2C-bus.

Any hints on this would be greatly appreciated.

Silent fan 2003-02-06 23:33:30
As a device that has its place in the living room the f@milynet box is a bit too loud. I got complaints from the rest of the family about the noise and had to do something in order to keep the box in the living room. I went to InetData in Goteborg and bought the most silent 60mm fan they had, the "60mm Power Cooler PS6025L", and installed it on the box. The new fan was a bit thicker than the old one and I had to mount it on the outside of the box but the result was astonishing. The new fan had been tested to perform 14 CFM at 19 dB(A) and that is NOT very loud, the harddrive makes more noise than that.

According to statistics the background noise in a living room is about 20 to 25 dB and the new fan really did the trick. I will document the modification as I did on the CIR in the near future.
